What is MMDA?
The Malaysia Medical Device Association or commonly known as MMDA has a diversity of members comprising of local manufacturers, local authorised representatives, importers, suppliers, distributors, multi-national corporations and service providers involved in the distribution and sales of medical devices and related healthcare products and equipment within Malaysia.
Background:
- A non-profit organization
- Incorporated under the Societies Act, 1966 on 4 April 2005
- Formation was consequential to the government’s directive on the regulation of the medical device industry
- Officially recognized by the Medical Device Authority of the Ministry of Health Malaysia as the voice of the industry
- MMDA is the premier organization representing the interest of medical device industry players in the country

MMDA is committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability is essential in the medical device Industry, serving our members and fostering public trust.
MMDA has been a member of the APEC Expert Working Group (EWG) and endorsed the KL PRINCIPLES – MEDICAL DEVICE SECTOR CODES OF ETHICS at the 18th APEC SME Ministerial Meeting in Kuala Lumpur in June 2011 leading to the establishment of a formal Code of Ethics as of 31 December 2012 aligned with the KL Principles.
At MMDA, our ethical framework is built on the following principles: Integrity; Interdependence; Appropriateness; Transparency and Advancement.
MMDA Codes of Ethics promotes ethical interactions between medical device and diagnostics companies (“Companies”) and Healthcare Professionals (“HCPs”) by outlining the behaviors and standards expected of all MMDA members.
